Wedding Cake

With wedding cakes going for $3 to $15 per slice, it’s no crime to want to save money on this expensive tradition. But how do you cut costs?

Budget-conscious brides who want an expensive-looking cake at a reasonable price can have their cake and eat it too! Check out our favorite ways to make your confectionery dreams come true.

1. Ask your caterer if he can make the cake as well. Many times, if you use the caterer to do the cake as well, the charges will be less.

2. Consider ordering several smaller cakes and serve them all together on a dessert table. This will save your designer major assembly and decoration time–and save you money.

3. Rather than spending a lot for flower decorations on your cake, let fresh flowers surround the cake and take center stage.
4. Go round, not square. Sure, boxy looking cakes are all the rave these days, but because they are difficult to create, they cost more money. Rounder is cheaper.

5. Don’t be afraid to borrow accessories like cake toppers and cutting knives. After all, isn’t there something about “something borrowed” in that whole wedding superstition? That’s probably because the person who thought of that knew it would save money!
