Necessity For Stands
The traditional multi-layered wedding cake requires a stand to display it on with the purpose of making it visible from all corners of the wedding hall. Therefore the importance of choosing the right stand for the wedding cake cannot be overemphasized as a wrong choice not in harmony with the wedding cake may spoil the entire efforts behind the wedding show.

Styles
The stand styles are as variable as the wedding cakes they support. Usually square and round, they may be in the shape of a plate, a plateau, or even a pedestal raised by pillars. All kinds of materials like metal, glass, ceramic, acrylic, china and even use and throw type Styrofoam cake stands are used.

Grouped Arrangement
Large tables are needed if there are grouped stands as these occupy large space. Each group of cake is displayed separately on the staircase-like stand in a way that gives a cascading effect and makes all the cakes visible.

Pillared Stands
Such stand uses pillars and bases between each tier of the wedding cake. Use of pillars gives height to the cake and adds to the elegance of the arrangement. This stand provides use of candles, fountains or other such theme décor.

Floating Cake Stand
In this arrangement, a central stabilizer lying behind the cake and holding the bases above one another gives an appearance as if the layers of the cake are floating on their respective bases.

Towers
Some cake stands have a single column in the middle to get the tower effect. The tower appearance gives the stand a majestic look preferred by many as it allows display of décor like flowers on cakes which themselves are without pillars.

Other Cake Stands
Wedding cake stands may be simple or ornamental. Some families use heirloom cake stand. For a wedding with garden theme, the wedding cakes may be hung upside down on terracotta pots to match with the theme.
